High Power LED The LED (Light Emitting Diode)  is the latest entrant to the commercial lighting market.  LED’s have been around for many years and have been used in various applications for a long time.  We have all seen the LED traffic lights that are used widely in Australia and most of us still use a remote control with an infra-red LED as the transmitter or a DVD or CD player with the LED to read data.

Since the first high-brightness blue LED was demonstrated by Shuji Nakamura in 1995 the LED has been adapted for use in many more applications.  The blue colour meant the spectrum was complete and white light was finally achievable.

LED’s are now of a colour that allows a high quality light to be produced at an efficacy greater than that of most other lighting technologies.  This coupled with the LED’s directional light that does not have to be directed by fixtures means that LED lights will completely replace fluorescent lighting in office and commercial lighting situations within a very short time frame.

High quality LED technology for commercial lighting applications is a reality and the Emerald Planet LED range proves just that. They have been independently tested by NATA accredited bodies to produce more light than the competitive technologies on the working surface.  This is achieved using at least 50% less energy than the standard fluorescent or even more when comparing to halogen and incandescent alternatives.
