High Power Factor
» High Power FactorAn electronic devices ability to use power is measured by its power factor. Something with a Low Power Factor does not use as much of the energy passing through it as a High Power Factor (HPF) Product.
A light globe is considered to be a high power factor product if it has a power factor of greater than 90%.
Under normal usage a HPF light globe will not make any difference to the electricity bill of an Australian home. Some electricity companies charge big consumers of electricity based on their power factor. Items with a Low Power factor increase distribution losses at the electricity providers end .
The Emerald Planet High Power Factor (HPF) CFL has a power factor of in excess of 95% which means that it is one of the most energy efficient Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL’s) on the market.
The EmerLED Tube is 25% more powerful than a standard Fluorescent tube and lasts 6 times (85%) longer.
